| N.PLAINFIELD: Grandparents indicted again in baby's death
Patrick McCabe Sr., 55, and his wife, Deborah, 47, were indicted Wednesday on charges of first-degree aggravated manslaughter. A grand jury first indicted the couple on the same charges last June. Somerset County Prosecutor Wayne J. Forrest said the case was presented to the grand jury again after investigators came across new evidence. Forrest would not comment about the new evidence. The McCabes are accused of leaving their newborn grandson to die partially submerged in a toilet for more than an hour after their teenage daughter gave birth in their North Plainfield home on Dec. 11. The prosecution alleges the newborn baby was eventually taken to the hospital in a plastic garbage bag by the family. Doctors at the hospital detected a faint heartbeat, but efforts to save the baby failed, authorities have said In July the McCabes pleaded not guilty to the charges and rejected a plea deal that would have landed each of them in state prison for 10 years.
Frederic Von Anhalt Gets Cryptic About Dannielynn's Daddy
Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband Prince Frederic Von Anhalt insists he knows who the biological father of tragic Anna Nicole Smith's baby daughter is, but has backed down from claims it could be him. The Hungarian royal added a bizarre new twist to the paternity battle over baby Dannielynn yesterday when he stated he could be the child's father. Speaking on CNN talk show Larry King Live last night, the prince revealed he only came forward with his claims because Smith told him who her baby's biological father is, and it isn't her ex-boyfriend Larry Birkhead or partner/lawyer Howard K. Stern, who are fighting for paternity rights. But Von Anhalt, who claims he enjoyed a romance with Smith after the death of her late husband J. Howard Marshall in 1995, was cryptic when asked if the mystery father he refers to is himself.

Anna Nicole Smiths 5-month-old daughter and one of the men claiming to be her father have reclaimed the Bahamas mansion where they lived before the former Playboy Playmate died last week, her lawyer told The Associated Press. Ben Thompson, gave her the home, although Thompson said it was only a loan and changed the locks to the place. Sunday, word came out that Smiths lawyer and companion, Howard K. Stern one of three men who claims to be the babys father had the locks changed again and was staying there with the baby. .
Police hopeful tip pans out in abandoned baby case
SASKATOON - A home-care worker driving through a Saskatoon neighbourhood Saturday may have provided police with key information about how and why a newborn baby girl was abandoned on a doorstep in frigid temperatures Saturday. The woman saw a man clutching what she thought could be a baby to his chest near a bus stop, Saskatoon police Staff Sgt. Kirby Harmon said Monday. "She had been bothered by what she'd seen," Harmon said. "(She) didn't know where Wathaman (Crescent) was, and when she realized where it was, she realized she may have some valuable information." .
Beloved barber locked in bathroom, robbed
A beloved old barber, who runs his own shop on Seventh Avenue, was robbed by a man pretending to be a Con Edison worker on Jan. 9. At just before 4 pm, the man entered the Clover Barbershop, at 11th Street, and told barber Ercole Riccardelli, "I need to see the basement." Riccardelli told cops that the man was wearing what looked to be a "Con Ed" patch on his blue jacket and he had no reason to be suspicious because Con Ed had called earlier in the day to tell Riccardelli that a worker would be stopping by. But instead of heading to the basement, the man forced Riccardelli into the bathroom and stole $620 from his pocket. He then locked the stylist in the bathroom while rummaging for more cash, though the thief found nothing except some old Italian jewelry of sentimental value only.
